What is microblading? Microblading is an eyebrow tattoo technique that deposits small amounts of ink in the superficial layer of the skin. It is considered to be a semi-permanent tattoo used as an alternative technique for creating naturally defined fuller eyebrows.

What are 3d eyebrows, feather stroke brows, hair stroke tattoos?  3d brows, feather stroke eyebrows and hair stroke tattoos are all terms used to describe the same technique, which is offered at The Refinery Lab. They all refer to the same semi permanent makeup technique, which creates a makeup tattoo with a natural appearance.

Is microblading similar to eyebrow extensions? Eyebrow extensions are an excellent solution for someone looking for a temporary brow improvement for the weekend or upcoming week. However they don't last very long due to oils in the skin and the daily elements our skin is exposed to. Microblading is similar to eyebrow extensions in that they provide an improvement to your current eyebrows, but they are longer lasting. Microblading is an eyebrow tattoo, so you are able to swim, play sports, go to the gym, and continue with your daily activities without the risk of ruining your investment.

How long does microblading last? The traditional tattooed eyebrow technique can last for up to 20 years. This is because the tattooed pigment is sitting the deeper layers of the skin. Microblading eyebrows is different in that the pigment is imbedded into a layer of the skin that is closer to the surface. For this reason, eyebrows that have been microbladed will last for 1-2 years, as long as it's maintained.

Does it hurt? Everyone experiences discomfort differently. Most people describe what they feel during the procedure as irritation, scratching, or a slight burning sensation. We use topical anesthetic creams and gels before and during all procedures to numb the area and minimize discomfort.

How long does the procedure take?  The procedure for both microblading and tattoo eyeliner takes roughly 2 hours. This is an estimation of time and varies from client to client.

Do I need to take time off work? No, there is no downtime associated with the tattooed eyebrow procedure. Redness and swelling typically dissipate within an hour after.

How long does it take to heal? Healing time varies for each individual. Typically it takes up to 14 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. After this your skin will be considered to have healed.
